organisational strategy
Recently small groups of senior executives have started to visit Cantle to design strategies for changing their organisations. Many have learned that their old processes based on mechanistic, cause and effect, outcome-oriented thinking have littered their companies with so many unintended, costly outcomes, that a new way of thinking is essential.
Organisations are living systems. We don’t fix them. We provoke them, guide them, relate to them and have dialogue with them. They evolve themselves into the best possible shape for all the stakeholders involved. It is a new mindset that is required.
Sitting in the conservatory, looking out on an ecological masterpiece such as Loch Tay and the surrounding forests, one can start to have faith in life’s ability to organise itself. Leaders begin to open their minds to the new skills needed to develop organisations: noticing what wants to happen naturally, feeding it with quality information, dialogue, care for the ecology of which the business is a part, and awareness of the natural seasons of an organisation.
New strategies emerge during the conversations. Leaders return to their businesses calmer and more accepting of the messiness of change, and much more open to the natural and sustainable evolution of their companies.

Cantle’s blend of Scottish charm and unwavering good humour should not be mistaken for a soft approach to organisational change. They have a unique way of moving people and their organisations. This is done through total focus on integrity of process and outcome. In my experience, top management teams and individual leaders have benefited hugely from Cantle’s engaging but direct and results-oriented approach.

Cantle’s work with BP Shipping enabled us to make real breakthroughs in developing leadership skills throughout the organisation. Understanding how an individual’s core values drive their own behaviour in the workplace provided unique insight into team dynamics that led to measurable improvements in business performance. I highly recommend them.
