Picture of Snug at Cantle

1:1 executive coaching

Executives come to Cantle when they want to have more impact on their organisations. We talk with them about their personal development, how to have better conversations, team engagement, improving relationships, or career advancement.

Our guests fly into Edinburgh Airport at around teatime to be chauffeur-driven through the mountains of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park up to the Training Centre. They join the Cantle team for some dinner before retiring to the snug with a coach. There, amid stone walls and leather chairs, lit by the fire and candlelight, perhaps with a glass of aged malt whisky, the conversations that they need to have become apparent. After a couple of hours they can usually hear their bed calling.

Breakfast is at 8.30am and the day begins at 9.00am. Sessions take place by the open fire in the library, or on walks up the Tarmachan Ridge or down to the loch (depending on the client’s energy). The coaching centres on relationships, strategy, their careers, and their organisations. After a few breaks for tea, home-bakes and a spot of lunch, the summarising takes place at about 3.00pm and the clients are on the way back to the airport by 4.00pm.

The experience lasts less than twenty-four hours but clients experience it as a welcome break from the noise and a rare opportunity to reorganise their thoughts in a way that strengthens their leadership.

In a matter of minutes, Cantle were able to identify the challenges I was facing. The straight forward approach and coaching were spot on.

The insight into character types/traits immediately strikes a chord – you get the feeling that they will instinctively get to the heart of the matter. Dealing with the often-difficult area of interpersonal relationships, and specifically team dynamics, is fraught with pitfalls. Cantle’s relaxed, informal but incisive style helps to unlock even the most uncommunicative participants.
